we have not found our great movement. architecture seems to be too caught up in the sweeping tides of technology and economy to affix itself on an idea that could fuel a worthy movement. additionally, there are so many camps of thought, some which are open to others and some which are not, that it would be impossible to say that any one group is winning the battle.

its not really a bad thing. its better than an architectural drought. however, in a world over-saturated in ideas its difficult to have the passion to create something that feel original. Sometimes the desire to do the next great thing is enough to scare off the smaller, simple but executable ideas.

im intrigued by the way he describes 'the baroque effect'; "the concrete aim at producing wonder". from what i gather (which might be wrong and have flown right over my head), he seems to believe we need to figure out where architecture stands as a means of expression. we are simply just go through the motions producing building after building that might push the boundries, but they are never setting a new boundary, never drawing new lines in the sand.
